Varsity Swimming

- Josh Sugarman and Ari Rosenstein

Fieldston boys Varsity swim kicked their season off with an exciting win versus the Hackley school on December 4th. The medley relay team with Tanner Vales (Senior), Raymond Dai (Senior), Ari Rosenstein (Junior), and David Porges (Junior) was only .4 off breaking last year's record. Ari Rosenstein swept his 4 events winning 2 relays, 100 freestyle and 50 freestyle where he was just half a second off rebreaking his own record. Raymond Dai was part of two winning relays and won the 200 Individual Medley. Misha Maslov (Freshman) won the 100 butterfly and Tanner Vales won both the 100 backstroke and 500 freestyle. The boys look strong coming into the season and hope to carry the momentum throughout the season and into Ivy League Championships. On the girls’ side, they won 2 of 3 relays including the medley and the 200 freestyle relay. Emma Friedman (Freshman), Stella Chukwulozie (Junior), and Amelia Franchin (Junior) each won an event. Despite losing a fair amount of seniors, the swim team is picking up where they left off and hope to add onto one of their best seasons in school history last year.

Fieldston Varsity swim had another great meet against Columbia Prep. On the girls’ side, Amelia Franchin won both the 100 and 50 freestyle individually along with the 200 freestyle relay. The boys won every event except for two. Elijah Dowl (Sophomore) was able to capture the victory in the 100 and 50 freestyle and David Porges and Misha Maslov also won an event in the boys’ victory over the Lions. Josh Sugarman (Junior) also managed to swim a successful meet, setting a personal record of 28:53 in his 50-yard freestyle. As the season continues, swim expects many more exciting wins and successes!
