Q: How important is team chemistry and how do outside of school activities such as parties or dinners help to bolster morale?

It helps a lot to bring the team together, which keeps us on the same page on the field. Also we are much closer this year than last year. Each team dinner/hangout allows us to be closer together.

Q: What are your aspirations for the team this year?

“Winning ivys and maybe even going
further. All I can say is, there’s no soccer state championship banner hanging in varsity gym”

Q: Has being on the soccer team and not being able to start work till late /staying up late to finish, impacted how you’re doing academic wise?

“Yeah I slack off on some of my work but I never miss practice. I usually just stay up late and finish it then. It is a sacrifice, but it is sure worth it.”

Q: What do you think led to the turnaround of the BVS team? Given that you guys were not so successful last year, how have you turned your season into the current first place standing you guys have in the league?

“I think it is how close we are. The team is much more reliant on itself and not so much the guidance of the coach. We have our own system and respect the coach very much. It’s a good dynamic. Also, we have incorporated film which is new for the soccer team this year and holds people accountable. This in turn helps boost team chemistry.”

Q: When did you start playing soccer?

“When I was about 4 or 5. I started in Super Soccer Stars.”

Q: What would you say your favorite part of being on BVS is?

“Spending time with my teammates is great. Dinners and gatherings are really fun. I think winning also adds to the enjoyment. Last year was great and I loved getting to know the guys, but this year, the fact that we are actually winning makes it that much better.”
