Q. How long have you played soccer?
I have played soccer since I was 5, so 12 years.
Q. What year did you join GVS?
I joined GVS when I was a freshman in 2016.
Q. What do you enjoy most about being on this team?
My favorite part about GVS is all of the friendships that I have made. While I love playing soccer, all of the relationships that I have made have lasted throughout high school and they are all really meaningful to me.
Q. Do you play for a club soccer team outside of fieldston?
I used to play for the Manhattan Soccer Club (MSC), then switched to Asphalt Green when I was a freshman. I quit last year.
Q. Does the team participate in any activities together in order to improve chemistry?
We do a lot of team dinners and play fun bonding games. I think that being close off the field allows us to work together really well on the field.
Q. What do you think was the key to this team’s success this year?
I think the key to our success this year was that we had a lot of individually strong players who quickly learned to work together. We also had very strong new players. We got three new freshmen and two new sophomores, all of whom became starters. The younger players on the team were definitely a huge part of our success.
Q. What parting advice would you give to the team in order to improve in the years to come?
I would say to keep communicating on the field and just have fun. I think all of our best games were when we were enjoying playing and when we had a lot of energy.
