The Fieldston Varsity Water Polo team has had a rocky season but there is still plenty to look forward to. Led by seniors Hank Marriot and Matt Flowers, Water Polo is 1-7 but the remaining games can certainly turn their season around. This past Saturday they lost 10-16 to Horace Mann despite a great performance from Hank Marriot, who had three goals. Loaded with upperclassmen, the team surely isn’t short on experience, which can serve them well going forward. Water Polo will face-off against Trinity, a team they beat in late September, this Wednesday. Hopes of defeating Trinity again are high and the next step will be to execute. Junior Chris Francoer commented
“They have a shallow pool which is always very difficult to play in. But I believe that we can overcome that.”
After their game against Trinity, Riverdale with host the team for their final regular-season game. Riverdale is no stranger to Fieldston, as this will be the fourth time the two teams play each other this season. Unfortunately, Fieldston lost all three of their previous games against Riverdale. The water polo team will then compete in the playoffs where they hope to win the league. Watch out for a triumphant end to the season for the Fieldston water polo team!
