  1. How long have you played water polo?

    1. I have played water polo since freshman year of highschool.

  2. How exactly do the rules of water polo work?

    1. 6 players plus a goalie from each team will face off in 4 seven minute quarters. The main objective of the game is to score goals by throwing a ball into the opponents goal. On offense, five of the six players form a horseshoe formation around the goal, with the sixth player, the set, playing right in front of the goal. You are not allowed to touch the ground, nor touch the ball with both hands at the same time. There are some rules about fouling and what contact is allowed, but for the most part it’s a full contact sport.

  3. What’s your favorite part about being on the water polo team?

    1. My favorite part is the competition. It’s exhilarating to score on a defender or stop a fast break on defense. I also enjoy the closeness of our team, and how much of a family we have become.

  4. What is your role on the team?

    1. I am both a varsity captain and player. Position wise, Lucas Mittman and I alternate who plays point (the top of the horseshoe) and set.

  5. What is the team’s ultimate goal this season?

    1. The ultimate goal is to finish with a .500+ record, meaning winning more games than losing. So far we are 3-2 in league games, so this might be our year!
