Girls Varsity Tennis Write-Up

- Carolyn Finerman

With the final match of the season on Wednesday October 23, the Girls Varsity tennis season ended with a bang. Although we did not win, the team reached a peak in unity, strategy, and cooperation. With Zoe Kava (senior) absent, the lineup was forcibly changed and everyone moved up a spot. Carolyn Finerman (junior) played number 1 and although a tough match, played well. Katie Finerman (freshman) once again, gave the match her all and won for the last time this season–– ending with an undefeated record. She is now officially the team’s MVP. Eliza Ross (senior) played 3rd singles and although ending with an L, played hard. First doubles was Caroline Lesser (junior) and Halle Friedman (senior) who were working nicely and soundly together at net, yet with the loss of a few important points were not able to win. In second doubles we had Jahvani Kirtane (senior) and Sophomore Eliza Sirovich (everyone’s favorite pair) who covered the court great and made the game look easy. Kirtane and Sirovich gracefully played the court and their communication served them well in the match. However, most notably was the exhibition match played by Ella Siev (senior) and Jami Sachs (junior). This was Siev’s first time playing this season and she had an exceptional match. Her groundstrokes, volleys, serve, and footwork were on point and she executed every shot with great precision and skill, as did her partner Sachs. Siev and Sachs ended with a W of 8-6, leaving Siev with an undefeated record this season in addition to Finerman. As the season came to a close, although bittersweet, GVT put in the work this season and their efforts surely paid off in a fun and rewarding couple of months.
