Boys Varsity Soccer Write-Up

- Sadie Schlesinger, Elle Berman, Jenny Bram, Leo Satlof

Boys Varsity Soccer ended its regular season play in remarkable fashion - for the first time in the team’s history, they were Ivy League champions. With a 2-0 victory at Hackley, the Eagles officially clinched the league title with still one more match to play that week. Goals came late in both halves for the Eagles, with Junior captain Daniel Silverstein and Sophomore Nico Olbrys scoring in the win.

Two days later, with a league championship and playoff spot safely secured, the boys traveled to Brooklyn to face Poly Prep in the team’s final regular season match. Poly, who desperately needed a win to secure a playoff spot, came out firing and proved to be too much for BVS, who eventually lost the match 4-3. Sophomores Nico Olbrys and Asaf Grofman scored. Yet after already capturing one of its goals with the league championship, BVS had bigger things to focus on than a scrappy, end-of-season loss with the upcoming NYSAIS playoffs. The Eagles, who are the #1 seeded team in the tournament, enter the playoffs for the first time since 2015 on Wednesday at home against Hackley.
